The Shimoga City Club formerly known as ‘The Shimoga Club, originally started as Tennis Club’ came into existence in a tiled roof house by 1924 by a few close associate friends for playing ‘lawn Tennis’ and Cards during the leisure hours. Its Members were drawn across from business, traders, profession, education, Government officials and others.
The ‘Executive Body’ from its inception is headed by Deputy Commissioner of the district.

Shimoga City Club - Elite
An ultra-modern beautifully architected branch club under the name and style as “THE SHIMOGA CITY CLUB - ELITE” was inagurated during November 2015 by the dignatories like The Chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council Mr. D. H. Shankara Murthy, Mr. D. G. Shanthana Gowda, M.L.A., Honnali, Mr. Vadnal Rajanna, M.L.A., Channagiri and Mr. D. N. Jeevaraj, M.L.A., Sringeri.
Ladies Club
A Ladies club has also been established during 2016, namely Elite Ladies Club in the premises of City Club-Elite by the female members and also spouse of male members of the Club.
